Teen Wilderness Backpack Adventure
July 21st-27th 2013
The Eureka Institute invite teens, age 14-17, to join us this summer for exciting adventures and spectacular scenery! With our new outfitters license and Breakwater Expeditions guiding expertise, we have unique access to camping and hiking in the Chimney Rock and Roman Nose areas of our beautiful Selkirk Mountain Range.
This week long backpacking trip into the wilds of Idaho is led by qualified, experienced, and licensed guides, all experts in helping participants develop outdoor and interpersonal skills, environmental awareness, and deepening their overall understanding of the natural world. The week's memorable expedition will take backpackers along loop trails including high alpine lakes, meadows, breathtaking mountain peaks and views. In addition to hiking, there will be ample time for exploring, swimming, relaxing, creating and reflecting. Campers will learn basic mountaineering/orienteering, outdoor living skills, leadership skills and how to “leave no trace.” As you hike, you will learn about the geology, history and conservation of our mountain eco systems, between the jokes, stories and far-fetched dreams of other hikers.
This is a fantastic journey into our big, beautiful backyard and will reveal to each hiker insights about themselves, friendships, trust, teamwork and the joy of the great outdoors. There will be moments of work and play, peace and excitement, and in the end, the journey is the adventure that will live with you as you continue to grow as the leaders of our future.
Grab a friend, and join us for a challenging and rewarding week of camping, hiking, and friendship! Come with curiosity and a sense of adventure and leave with memories that last a lifetime!
